Lunar calendar for the gardening calendar: October 2026

The Lunar Sowing Calendar for the Gardener and Horticulturist - the perfect reference point for lovers of bountiful harvests

The magical influence of the Moon, in conjunction with the sign of the Zodiac in which it is located, has been known to mankind for centuries.

Since ancient times, people paid attention to all the processes happening to the Moon in the sky, because it was found out that they directly influenced important factors of agriculture: fertility, germination of crops, quantity and quality of the harvest.

The influence of the Earth's satellite on many vital processes on our planet is also confirmed by the modern science of biodynamics, which is successfully developing in recent years thanks to modern technology, emphasizing once again the influence of the Moon on agricultural activities and land cultivation.

Although the Moon's influence on our planet is not yet fully known, there is nevertheless a wealth of information on its gravitational pull on the Earth and many keen gardeners know for sure that lunar phases can have a major influence on farming activities, so they try to follow it rigorously.

The lunar sowing calendar for vegetable growers and gardeners is determined each year by calculating the location of the moon, which sign of the zodiac it is in, and the phase it will be in, making it important to plant seedlings and sow seeds and root vegetables in good time.

There are a total of four phases of the Moon, which each year have a different effect on the biological rhythms of the vegetation, so the calculation of the tables indicating the dates of agricultural work is carried out purely individually for each year and month.

For clarity, here is the Lunar Sowing Calendar for the Gardener and Gardener - calculated astrological data on the location of the Moon in 2016 to clarify the period of planting of plants, seeds and root vegetables.

Moon phases

Position of the Moon in March: from March 05 full moon, the Moon is in Virgo, then last quarter and waning in Sagittarius; new moon in Pisces, then first quarter and waxing Moon in Cancer.

Moon position in April: from 04 April, full moon, Moon is in Libra, then last quarter and waning in Capricorn; new moon in Aries, then first quarter and waxing Moon in Leo.

Moon position in May: from 04 May, full moon, Moon is in Scorpio, then last quarter and waning in Aquarius; new moon in Taurus, then first quarter and waxing Moon in Virgo.

Moon position in June: 02 June full moon, Moon in Sagittarius, then last quarter and waning in Pisces; new moon in Gemini, then first quarter and waxing Moon in Libra.

Moon position in July: 02 July full moon, Moon is in Capricorn, then last quarter and waning in Aries; new moon in Cancer, then first quarter and waxing Moon in Scorpio, after full moon Moon in Aquarius.

Moon position in September: From September 05, last quarter waning in Gemini; new moon in Virgo, then first quarter and waxing in Scorpio, after full moon Moon in Pisces.

Based on the above data it is possible to understand in which decade of the month one can and should carry out vegetable sowing and when, on the contrary, it is not recommended. For example, based on the location of the Moon in April, potatoes can be planted after the full moon in 3-5 days at the end of the first decade of the month. For this calculation, the obligatory three rules below also apply.

Every gardener and gardener should know and remember that works connected with cultivation of the land or tending a garden can be done only with a positive inner emotional state, having peace of mind and getting moral satisfaction from agricultural works.

If you are in an emotional stressed state - it is better to postpone agricultural and gardening work to the next day; the energy of nature is inherently positive, so your negative emotional state will reflect badly on further fertility - and no lunar sowing calendar for vegetable and fruit growers can help.

In conclusion, here are some simple rules for sowing crops to complement the lunar planting calendar.

All plants which by their nature grow upwards and produce above-ground fruits such as tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, beans, etc. - should be planted when the moon is rising but not on the first days of the new moon, but around the 5th or 7th day.

Plants that are root crops such as potatoes, beets, carrots, radishes should be planted during a waning moon, 3-5 days after the full moon, when it is obvious that the moon is out of the full moon phase.

After planting seeds and sprouts according to the principles mentioned above, the third rule must also be observed: water the seedlings and seeds during the Moon's presence in the sky in water signs: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces.

If you follow the above rules of the lunar planting calendar for the gardener and the gardener, with due care and attention, you are guaranteed a good, environmentally friendly harvest because you will not need harmful fertilisers and chemicals.
